I decided to choose Southern California because it’s where I have made some of my happiest memories. My mom and I go running along the beach and watch the surfers catch waves – hence the surfer in the final draft.
First Draft
Originally, I was happy with my first draft. I was going to make a couple small adjustments and call it complete. After returning to this project 4 months later, I realized I could maintain the same level of simplicity but push my illustration capabilities. I chose to keep the wave motif from the first draft, but take a new perspective.
